Works directly with adults that have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS living in Linn, Benton, Cedar and Jones Counties and other surrounding areas as needed.  Identifies individual client needs and arranges services to address those needs. Helps determine need for public or private insurance benefits and other public assistance programs as needed by the client. In coordination with an Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) trained Benefits Specialist or other appropriate community provider assists client in applying for and maintaining eligibility for medical/insurance benefits and other public assistance programs.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Helps clients with HIV gain access to medical care, appointments, and HIV medication.
  • Enrolls eligible clients in services and complete initial intake and ongoing assessment to meet program guidelines
  • Provides financial assistance to eligible persons living with HIV, such as food cards, gas cards, bus tickets, insurance copays, mortgage assistance programs, rent, and utility payments
  • Maintains appropriate and thorough documentation to meet Iowa Department of Public Health and Health Resources and Services Administration grant guidelines
  • Troubleshoots insurance issues with Medicaid, employers, or private insurance to maintain coverage

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate of arts in social sciences, health, or human services required
  • At least 1 year of experience in hospital, health care, mental health, or addiction services required
  • At least 1 year of experience determining potential initial and continuing eligibility for public assistance programs required 

SHIFT:                        

  • Monday – Friday | 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

HOURLY WAGE:

  • New Hire: $23.75 
  • 90 days: $24.95 
  • 1 year: $26.35 
  • 2 years: $27.79 
  • 3 years: $29.29
