The University of Iowa, Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP) is seeking a motivated and independent person to join our team of professionals. DSP is the office that facilitates the submission of research proposals, negotiation of award agreements, and management of non-financial post-award actions, including the issuance of subawards, for the University of Iowa. This role will support research and scholarly activity by reviewing proposals and budgets, advising on grant and contract administration, and assuring ethical and regulatory compliance on behalf of the University.


Position Status: Regular. The position is open to a full time equivalent of 50-100%. Part-time or full-time appointments are available within the stated range.

Work Modality:

  • In-person, hybrid, or remote (within Iowa).
  • This position is eligible for hybrid or remote work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment.

Qualifications:
Education or Equivalency Required

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, administration, finance, accounting, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.


Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrate enhanced knowledge and experience within research administration, or equivalent. Examples of relevant research administration experience include but are not limited to: budget development, providing accounting services, proposal preparation and review, and interpreting federal regulations or other sponsor guidelines.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) or database applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and adjust strategies to changing needs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Is able to handle a large workload.
  • Ability to work within a team and alone or with limited guidance, as appropriate.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience handling a large volume and variety of work in a high deadline environment.
  • Higher Education or non-profit administrative experience.



This position is eligible for a combination of on-campus and hybrid or remote work. Work arrangement options will be discussed during the hiring process.
