The Bookkeeper/Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the company by processing transactions, managing accounts, and preparing reports. This role requires strong attention to detail and an understanding of financial processes and systems. The bookkeeper will ensure that financial statements are accurate and comply with relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record Financial Transactions: Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in the accounting system, including income, expenses, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain General Ledger: Manage and update the general ledger with accurate financial data, ensuring accounts are properly balanced.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, manage vendor payments, track accounts receivable, and send reminders for overdue payments.
  • Reconcile Accounts: Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card statements, and accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare Financial Statements: Preparation of monthly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Payroll Processing: Calculate and process employee payroll via outsourced payroll software, ensuring proper deductions, benefits, and tax filings.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate filing of sales tax, payroll tax, and other relevant taxes. Collaborate with external accountants for year-end filings.
  • Monitor Cash Flow: Track the company’s cash flow to ensure financial stability and report any issues to management.
  • Audit Support: Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and reports for internal and external auditors.
  • Assist in Budgeting: Help with the development of budgets and track performance against those budgets.
  • Maintain Financial Records: Keep records of all financial transactions in compliance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Communicate with Management: Report financial issues, trends, and opportunities to the management team.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role. Familiarity with bookkeeping software is required.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to ensure the accuracy of financial data and detect discrepancies.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Math Skills: Proficiency in basic accounting principles and mathematics.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; familiarity with accounting software.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time
  • Work hours are typically Monday through Friday
