This position assists in the day-to-day operations of Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore. The ReStore is a retail business that sells donated, reclaimed, and purchased building materials, appliances, furniture, and tools at discounted prices to generate revenue to support CVHFH in its mission of building homes, communities, and hope.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support to the ReStore Manager in the management of day-to-day store operations.
- Promote donations, drive sales and profits of the ReStore to provide sustainable funding to support Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity’s mission.
- Establish and maintain relationships with potential and existing donors, including contractors, suppliers, individuals, businesses, community, and church groups to increase quality and quantity of merchandise donations.
- Oversee the effective merchandising of the floor, maximizing available display space and use inventory control and pricing to ensure appropriate turnover of merchandise.
- Engage customers and provide excellent customer service.
- Ensure a safe environment for staff, shoppers, donors, and volunteers.
- Ensure that all areas of the store, rest rooms, and warehouse are clean.
- Provide onsite supervision of staff and volunteers.
- Train staff and volunteers on various work functions, processes, and customer service.
- Ensure accountability processes that encourage staff responsibility for their job performance and maintain positive morale.
- Support and maintain staff culture that aligns with the mission.
- Maintain open communication with ReStore Manager on essential and critical information regarding staffing and daily operations.
- Assist with the selection and onboarding of new staff.
- Enforce all CVHFH and ReStore policies and procedures fairly.
- Handle customer issues and complaints when necessary.
- Attend and participate in ReStore-related training opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned by the ReStore Manager.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree preferred.
- A minimum of two years retail experience preferred.
- Must be able to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule with some flexibility. Some evening hours may be required for special events.
- Demonstrated ability in training, managing, leading, and developing people.
- Must be accurate and detail oriented, possess strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize complex projects in a fast-paced environment with numerous deadlines and pressures.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and point of sale software.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and effectively with and among diverse populations and personalities.
- Physical ability to perform tasks, including lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance, and standing for long periods at a time.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
