GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Coordinator assists in planning, organizing and facilitating aspects of the Marion and Cedar Rapids Encore Café and Washington, Iowa and Cedar Rapids Encore Express senior meal sites in conjunction with members of the Nutrition team.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and support a welcoming environment at the congregate meal site; maintain a high level of  customer service by engaging with attendees and providing assistance as needed.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with vendors, community providers, volunteers and referral sources.
  • Manage meal site reservations and contact food vendors within Heritage procedures to ensure timeliness, efficiency and hospitality.
  • Attend and participate in staff trainings, staff meetings, and community and public meetings.
  • Follow all fiscal procedures for handling and depositing of voluntary contributions.
  • Support volunteer recruitment and training. Engage with Nutrition team members and Heritage Management to ensure the meal site has sufficient volunteer staffing to run efficiently and with optimum customer service.
  • Ensure meal site is set up appropriately and follows all sanitation and food safety policies and procedures daily.
  • Prepare reports as directed to comply with funding and grand deadlines.
  • Communicate with the Nutrition team, any issues, concerns, suggestions to ensure a well-functioning program.
  • Must be able to comfortably present information and education to individuals and groups of all sizes, including in person, virtual and social media formats.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.
  • Research, develop, and distribute appropriate nutrition education to all dining locations and providers regionally, on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with coordination efforts with regional nutrition programs as necessary.
  • Assist with other Encore Express, Encore Café, and Encore Essentials locations as necessary.
  • Develop nutrition menus with input from nutrition team.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
  • Be able to effectively utilize technology and computers including, but not limited to, office equipment, word processing, spreadsheets, and database software, scanners and other equipment.
  • Show a commitment to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be prompt, dependable and reliable.

The physical activities required for this position involve:

Frequent (34-66%) standing pushing, pulling, and grasping.

Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close work.

Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

  • This position requires lifting:
    • Up to 25 pounds under 1/2 of the time.
    • Up to 50 pounds less than 1/4 of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services or a related field such as Health Promotion, Recreational Therapy, etc. Preferred minimum of 2 years with  experience with older adults and persons with disabilities.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Obtain certified food protection certification; such as ServSafe.
  • Must be willing to be certified in dependent adult abuse upon hire, if not already certified upon application.
  • Licensed driver in the state of Iowa with valid insurance.
