Pharmacy Technician

Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa’s Department of Rheumatology is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to work as a team member within our busy practice.

 

This individual will serve our patients and patient care staff by performing the following duties: 

  • Mix and prepare IV and injections drugs for administration including chemotherapy and rheumatology drugs.
  • Dispose properly of all hazardous waste and/or sharps in accordance with OSHA regulations in properly labeled buckets.
  • Clean hoods in the morning before IV prep and after all infusions have been prepared for the work day.
  • Ensure proper labeling of IV admixtures being sent out to administer as well as any oral medications dispensed through Dispensing Service.
  • Check next day schedule daily to ensure drugs needed are available.
  • Stock bins/cupboards with supplies daily.
  • Order and put away supplies as necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Candidates must be or become proficient in the use of computer systems, including electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Qualified applicants must be pharmacy technicians with 1-3 years of experience.  
  • PTCB certified or other nationally recognized board certification required along with current Iowa Board of Pharmacy Technician license.  
  • Proper Handling of Hazardous Drugs Certification and Sterile Products/IV Certification preferred. 
  • CPR certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
