The University of Iowa Design & Construction team is seeking a Quality Project Manager to be hired at either the Intermediate or Senior level. Please indicate in your cover letter the position you wish to be considered for or indicate all.

This position will be responsible for evaluating data, improving work processes, and procedures and recommending specific changes to improve the overall quality of service that Facilities Management Design & Construction is delivering for construction projects at the University of Iowa. Responsible for administering a continuous improvement process for the Design & Construction unit. Supports the consistent delivery of projects and services to meet and exceed client expectations. Ensures efficiency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement for both project delivery and departmental stewardship.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the and .

Duties to include:

Quality Project Manager

  • Facilitate review and approval process for UI Design Standards and Procedures
  • Maintain FM Design & Construction workflow documents
  • Review design documents for compliance with UI Design Standards and Procedures
  • Review construction jobsites for compliance with current campus standards and industry best practices
  • Support project and department lessons learned processes

Sr Quality Project Manager

  • Facilitate review and approval process for UI Design Standards and Procedures
  • Review project Owner Project Requirements (OPR) and Basis of Design (BOD)
  • Communicate common occurrences and issues from lessons learned and other project design reviews
  • Perform jobsite observations to confirm adherence to quality assurance processes
  • Provide leadership to department in commissioning processes

Location: Campus – University Services Building (USB)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM

Quality Project Manager

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Professional experience (typically 3-5 years) in project management or in process improvement implementation.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in computer software applications.
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in a client-focused, team-oriented environment.
  • Professional experience (typically 3-5 years) in project management of projects during design and/or construction or experience in process improvement implementation on a university campus.
  • Extensive experience with project management software such as Bluebeam, BIM, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and SharePoint, etc.
  • Experience in sustainable design processes, laboratory and/or MEPT capital improvement projects and/or state building inspection procedures.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE, ASTM and/or Joint Commission standards and Building Codes including NFPA 99.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Technology (MEPT) commissioning practices and Building Enclosure (BE) commissioning practices.
  • Experience with healthcare, laboratory, MEPT or building envelope capital improvement projects and/or state building inspection procedures.

Sr. Quality Project Manager

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Professional experience (typically 5-7 years) in project management or in process improvement implementation.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in computer software applications.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE, ASTM and/or Joint Commission standards and Building Codes including NFPA 99.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Technology (MEPT) commissioning practices and Building Enclosure (BE) commissioning practices.
  • Experience with healthcare, laboratory, MEPT or building envelope capital improvement projects and/or state building inspection procedures.
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in a client-focused, team-oriented environment.
  • Formal continuing education in process improvement techniques such as TQM or similar nationally recognized techniques (Six Sigma, LEAN, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, ProSci)
  • Qualified Commissioning Provider certification or formal continuing education in commissioning processes by a nationally recognized organization.
  • Extensive experience with project management software such as Bluebeam, BIM, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and SharePoint.

Experience in sustainable design processes, laboratory and/or MEPT capital improvement projects and/or state building inspection procedures.
